On A Calorie Budget – Calorie Countdown Milk

When I started low-carbing, I received a tip from low carb guru Jimmy Moore about a low-carb milk by the brand Hood. Originally called Carb Countdown, it’s now called Calorie Countdown (to appeal to a wider audience, I suppose).
Well, with only 45 calories and 3 grams of carbs per cup, this milk is a great substitute for regular skim if you’re watching your calories. It’s fat free and the taste is great – pretty much the same as skim milk. I use it to mix with tea and protein drinks, and sometimes by itself if I’m not hungry in the morning.
You can find this in most grocery stores – here in East Tennessee, I buy it at my local Kroger. They also make a chocolate variety that is delicious, although I can’t seem to find it anymore, and a 2 percent reduced fat version.
Tip – try mixing it with ice and fruit to make a great smoothie!

The minute I saw the word “smoothie” I was hooked. And I will be keeping my eyes open for the chocolate variety as well!
Glad to hear it! Hope you find the chocolate version. It’s yummy!
The chocolate flavor is DA BOMB!
