This article from The Caucus Blog – NY Times says Oprah has refused to interview Sarah Palin and that John McCain isn’t letting anyone interview her.

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Of course, there are also rumors that John McCain is deliberately refusing to allow the woman to speak in interviews.

“Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children? So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment.”

Uh, cause you’re proposing her to be the Vice President of the United States and we have a right to know exactly who she is and what she thinks and where she stands before she takes any power over our lives and our laws.

The only information I’m getting about Sarah Palin is from people who think she’s either God (pro-life groups, hunters, people who don’t equate drilling for oil to the end of the world, the very religious, some Republicans) or The Devil (pro-choice groups, people who do equate the drilling of oil to the end of the world, atheists afraid of anyone who professes a belief in God and thinks it’s an acceptable criteria for having an opinion, some Democrats) .

I’m betting she’s neither.

I want to hear this woman speak about what she REALLY thinks and Oprah is the perfect person to ask the right questions and get the real answers to things I care about.

Please interview Sarah Palin, Oprah.

Yes, even though I keep getting fed more and more information about her – she’s somehow more and more mysterious to me. Oprah would be perfect..or Barbara Walters?

  2. Tracee Sioux says:

That’s cause everyone who’s talking about her is repeating heresay mostly. Things originally written in her hometown paper years ago and then repeated on this blog and that one – it’s like that old game of telephone or gossip – I don’t quite believe most of it.

Barbara Walters seems more likely – though she’s a soft interviewer – I want to know exactly what this woman thinks.

Gee I’ve missed you That Girl

  3. that girl says:

    ditto!

I can see them letting her do Barbara Walters though – and her interviews are interesting..she might gloss everything in sugary sweetness, but I do get something out of her interviews.

Oprah has made it clear that she supports Barack Obama. She is wise enough to know that if she interviews Sara Palin every question would be seen as an attack. I respect Oprah’s decision. It’s her show, she can refuse anyone she wants if that was case. With so many other real news venues to choose from, why Oprah? I understand her power in the media and I greatly admire her, but why is her opinion so important to women? Can’t we make up our own minds without needing Oprah to approve?

  5. Tracee Sioux says:

Please I voted for Hillary – but the Oprah factor accounted for an estimated 1 million votes for Obama.

I just want to find out who this woman is and think Oprah would ask the same questions I might.

  6. Esther says:

I agree, I think Oprah would ask the questions most of us would, but I also think Sara Palin will stick to the script she has been given. Did you watch McCain on The View? The ladies were accused of being to tough on him. I can just imagine what they would say about Oprah if she got that tough on Palin. I really doubt anyone will know who Ms. Palin really is till after the elections. Those voting for McCain/Palin are perfectly happy with any answer she gives. So our decision about her will have to be made from the bits we hear in the media, if the truth isn’t being told about her, well thats her own fault.
