While it may be fun and fashionable to get your tongue or lip pierced, dentists and dental surgeons are very much against the practice.
In this article, Warning for Teens: Teeth and Jewelry Don’t Mix, two researchers explain that teens with oral piercings present with a high number of tooth fractures, gum disease and periodontal damage. This can lead to chronic problems and pain later on in life if not cared for immediately.
