If you’re shipping gifts out, make sure you plan ahead.
Why?:
- Increment weather may delay packages.
- The holiday season alone will surely delay packages.
- You may need special packaging supplies.
Items to have on hand for getting packages ready:
Tissue paper
Boxes of assorted sizes
Bubble wrap or better yet, some greener holiday packing & mailing supplies
Products that make gift wrapping a snap
Tape – maybe even something with some bling, like tinsel tape…
Foam and dry ice if you’re sending something like a gingerbread house or other food items
Coming up soon we’ll look at ways to quick pack some typical holiday gifts.

I always try to have my packages sent within a week of Thanksgiving. Usually in October I start looking for gifts, ordering them, and saving the boxes and packing material they come in. Then, by the time I sit down and pack them all up, I have the right boxes and packing materials. Then I can recycle all the leftovers. Plus I get things mailed early enough that I am able to send them parcel post, which saves a ton of money.
Dang – you’re on it. Most people don’t start so soon. But good tips and ideas for eager folks who like being organized.
That tinsel tape rocks!!!
