Are you feeling unmotivated when it comes to cleaning out that drawer or closet? Do you keep putting it off and saying you can do it tomorrow?
Overcoming procrastination can be such a hard thing. Sometimes we procrastinate when it comes to getting organized because we have no idea where to start. We look around and all we see is chaos.
The only way to begin the process of organizing your life is to just get started somewhere. Here are a few quick tips on how to get started in the right direction. It all begins with a simple list, so go grab a pen and a piece or paper.
1.Take a walk around your home. List the top 3 rooms that bother you the most.
2.Give the rooms a number. Rate the rooms with a one, two or three with one being the room that is the absolute most annoying room and three being the least.
3.Write down what bothers you the most. Go through each room and list 5 things that bother you the most. Are their clothes piled on the bed? Are the kitchen counters covered with items with no home, junk mail and school papers? Or maybe there are toys covering every square inch of the floor. Whatever it is, limit is to five things.
4.Schedule a day or two that you are going to organize room number one. Ask your family or a friend to help and stick to that date.
By making this list, you will feel more motivated to tackle the room at hand and you will also be more aware of why the room bothers you so much. Now you are ready to dig into the organizing process by defining the space.

Oh Julie! I LOVE this idea! Talk about a great way to really verbalize what you just can’t stand! I think I am going to try and do that this weekend, I’m really not feeling the “love” in the house. Hmm, I wonder if that will work with “the man” as well! ;o)
Thanks Suzanne. I do this in my own home and it really gets me motivated. Once I see the list of all the things to do and what’s bothering me, it really makes me want to get it done and mark it off that list!
