Pabst Wins Ugliest Dog Contest

This year’s Ugly Dog Contest has a winner!
4-year-old Pabst, a boxer mix, beat out four Chinese cresteds in this year’s contest, which is saying a lot since the breed has taken home the trophy for the last seven years!
The surprise upset, according to Pabst’s owner Miles Egstad, is due to Pabst’s personality:
“His personality sure does go a long way,” Pabst’s owner said. “Honestly, the Chinese cresteds, they’re hideous.”
Pabst got his name due to his pronounced underbite, or as Egstad calls it, his “bitter beer face.”
He took home $1600 in prize money as well as a modeling contract, and a variety of collars, leashes and toys.
The contest has been held every years since 1976. This year’s judges included Jon Provost, who played Timmy on “Lassie”; Karen “Doc” Halligan from “Groomer Has It,” “Dog Tales,” and “Animal Rescue 911”; and Sonoma-Marin Fair board member Brian Sobel.
