Pain medication 8 X stronger than morphine?

Morphine, an opioid, is a pretty strong pain reliever, but it has a short acting time so it requires frequent administration. Now, researchers from North Carolina have been able to identify a "pain protein" in nerve cells. Once they did that, they were able to convert it to something that can help relieve, or suppress, pain. According to the researchers, the resulting new medication that they hope will develop would be up to 8 times more powerful than morphine.
Let’s hope that the research continues to bring good news.
