Painful fibroids

Millions of women around the world have fibroids. Many don’t feel them and don’t even know they have them – others experience severe pain during menstruation because of them.
In a recent study published in the May issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology, researchers found that the majority of the smaller fibroids end up in the endometrial cavity (the lining of the uterus) after a procedure called uterine artery embolization (UAE). These smaller fibroids don’t seem to cause any complications, however, and are often expelled from the uterus on their own. You can read more about this study in the press release: Fibroids common, but women have options.

It’s great there are more options now, but none of them sound too pleasant to go through.
I’m trying to wait my fibroids out–they do hurt sometimes, but I hear they can get a bit better on their own after menopause. But mostly I’m waiting because I’m a big chicken about medical procedures.
