A study by a London hospital suggests that changing hormone levels throughout the menstrual cycle may affect muscles and ligaments, possibly leading to more injuries for women during certain parts of their cycle.
Lead researcher Dr Stephen Sandler, an experienced osteopath, said: “There was a clear link between hormone levels and laxity of joints, making women more vulnerable to injury.”
Have you found more injuries at certain times of the month?

haven’t noticed injuries…but have noticed extra creakiness. I guess that doesn’t look so good for my not getting osteoporosis, huh? Mom has it. I was hoping that my having fewer of the risk factors might help me out.
Renee, you’re so young yet, and there are lots of things you can do to continue to reduce your osteoporosis risk. Talk to your OB/GYN and your PCP about things you can do. And let us know what they say!
I have recently noticed painful chest area, even after my cycle is over…I’m assuming this might be connected to changing hormones.
Interesting. I thought my loss of flexibility these past two weeks was beacause of the raked stage, but maybe it’s also being affected by where I am in my cycle. I’ll have to track it for a few months. Thanks for the tip!
