Parasites, an Adoption Series

It is no secret within my immediate family that I am no fan of parasites, especially the creepy crawly kind. It is also no secret that AJ made a mighty fine host to one parasite and one bacterial infection, both of which tore his little tummy up.

They say that pinworms don’t cause children problems but when the infestation is so great they do, trust me. AJ had horrible abdominal pain, was not sleeping, and the worms were actually migrating out of his rectum during the day, which they are not known to do.

A pinworm is an intestinal infection that is fairly easy to get rid of. However, because the female worm does “spray” her eggs MUST clean all bed linens, towels, underwear and pajamas, toilets, bathroom fixtures, food, drinking glasses, toys, sandboxes, etc. every day. It is also wise to open all curtains because they do not like light. Additionally, it is wise to dust everyday to prevent eggs from sitting around.
