Parents Against School Vacations Committee (PASVC)

snowflakes.gifI am proud to announce that I will be running for the presidency of the PASVC (Parents Against School Vacations Committee).

When I was a kid we went to school whether we got 10 inches of snow or 10 inches of sunshine. Either way, nothing seemed to be different other than the fact we made sure our boots were warm and tied tight to prevent unwanted snow up the sock. These days you get a few inches of snow predicted and all the cancellations start coming in the day before. Schools shut down, businesses are closed, and all you see are plow trucks scraping the city streets clean in preparation.

Now I am not saying we shouldn’t be careful and prepare for winter’s worst, but give me a break. I like snow (sometimes) and it can be tough to drive in it but why does the world have to stop. How is it different today than it was when I was growing up? There weren’t more deaths during that time due to crashes or being drowned in snow.

But you get my point. Maybe people are just over worked these days and are looking for any excuse to take a day off. When a storm blows through they just naturally take the day off, close things down, and stay home and relax.

So, this brings me to my campaign to become the first President of PASVC. I personally feel Summer vacations are important but all other forms of vacations should be blocked. I plan to bring forth a bill stating this if I am elected.

And Yes! My kids are home today AGAIN because a few snowflakes are falling out of the sky.
