Parents traveling for work

February 26, 2008 by Elizabeth

SuitcaseMy friend Jackson is experiencing the feelings of many parents who have to travel for work:

This morning I was dropping the kids off at school and my 2 year old just burst out in tears and wouldn’t let me go. He never does that. He doesn’t understand why I need to go out of town for work.

But, it sounds like he has something in the works that’s going to make it better, soon, and, it’ll be worth the separation time.

I have a love-hate relationship with work travel. On the one hand, I LOVE the opportunity to get away and act like a grownup full-time for a couple days. On the other hand, I HATE making all the child-care arrangements — I’m still a single mom til the end of June. Of course, I miss the kids when I’m gone, too.
