Part 1: Twilight Party – The Decorations

Last month, my tween daughter had a Twilight-themed Birthday Party sleepover. Being the stage mother that I am, I was the busiest in our family organizing everything from decorations, party food, games and such. I wouldn’t have pulled it off though without the help of generous friends and family members so to all of you (you know who you are), a big thanks to you!

The preparation

As you know, I had a Twilight-themed birthday party invitation created by my uber-talented graphic designer and good friend, Jacquelyn. I also researched the web for ideas for the party decorations, games, food and what have you. I took suggested from the Blisstree readers and took out those that are not relevant like capes and vampire fangs.

Here’s the final invitation that was sent out to our daughter’s friends:

Twilight Sleepover Party Stuff

Living in New Zealand, finding suitable decorations weren’t easy. I had to rely on eBay, Amazon and our local craft and fabric shop to find the right materials for my darling girl’s birthday.

Twilight Party -where are my guests?

As is customary here in New Zealand, we had balloons attached to our letterbox to signal that we’re having a PARTY! :-) Here’s my daughter waiting for her guests to arrive.

Twilight Party - Welcome

I used one of the quotes I downloaded from the Hostess with the Mostess site for this. I bought the 8×10 frames that I used at the party from the local shop here for $5 a pop! I chose the quote “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb – Edward Cullen” for the door in welcoming the guests as I believe it’s one of the most popular quotes in the movie/book.

BEFORE and AFTER wall set-up

I bought the velvet with twinkling stars from the local fabric shop here in New Zealand. I got about 2 meters and they fit the wall well.

Twilight Party - Fairy Lights

I also bought some fairy lights. I wish it was darker when we took this photo as the room looked totally magical in the dark. I plan to re-use the fairy lights in the Twilight Bedroom makeover I’m doing for my daughter’s bedroom :-)

Twilight Party - table

This is the full shot of the Twilight ‘Shrine’. I used the buffet table in our living room to house all the stuff for the shrine. I’ve also added the red vase and balls as part of the decor. Those I didn’t buy for the party decor. I love red stuff so they were part of the house ornaments :-)

Twilight Party - Quotes

I bought apples and placed them in a square vase and filled them with water for effect. I also used red candles that we had. The quotes I printed and framed. I also used the Twilight books that we owned. I also used some tulle and black pillow cases as tablecloth for this shrine.

Twilight Party - getting ready

We bought black and red balloons and scattered them around the living room and hang them on the walls. I used the only black flat sheet I had to cover the main couch.

Next up, I’ll talk about the food, drinks, party games and favors!
