Parties and Drinking

The Big Deal About Alcohol: What Teens Need to Know About Drinking (Issues in Focus)When Jamie lived at home, he was invited to an incredible number of parties. The kid was almost too popular for his own good, but he did something that I thought was really clever. But let me back up a minute. After getting into trouble for drinking and waking up his dad for a ride home at 2 a.m., he decided that it just wasn’t worth it. However, his friends could never understand that he really didn’t want to drink and would constantly try to convince him to have another. He soon learned that it was easier to accept a bottle of beer, and then keep refilling the empty bottle with water. If his friends saw him with a beer in his hands, they left him alone.

He said that he had more fun people watching after that and if truth be known, I think he attracted the attention of a lot of girls that way too. Guys have a tendency to look like idiots when they have too much to drink. Actually, girls do too!

  1. That sounds like every typical teen that almost stands up for theirself and not drink, but the peer presure will always win if they have doubts if they subject theirself to the same situations all the time. I almost became an alcoholic in college. It starts with a couple and then the numbers just increase, and then the days of the week begin to increase untill you drink almost every day. Yea you can lead a perfectly normal life, but with sleepiness, mood swings, not feeling good, heart burn, stomach aches. So my suggestion is to get that book for your kid. I read books a lot and am very picky and it looks like a very good one. So check it out. Have 1 less alcoholic in your family, not saying that you have any now, just sounded good though.
