Pass the Friggin Turkey and Stuffing Will Ya!

Thanksgiving turkey

It happens every holiday that comes around.  Dietitians/Nutritionists/The Food Gestapo aka Kill-Joys, invade the morning news telling us about all the calories we are going ingest during that celebration.  Like clock-work, every holiday they whip out the tofu substitute, raw celery and water and try to convince us how similar the flavors are…right…

Ok, I get it, Thanksgiving has a lot of calories.  You intake 2-3 days worth of calories in one day.  My gripe is, stopping being the kill-joy.  If I see one more news segment telling me how to watch my waist-line on Thanksgiving by eating a small portion of white turkey with a teaspoon of gravy, a side of steamed greens and a raw apple for dessert…I will need to strangle a turkey.

Here’s the deal:  yes, it is a crap-load of calories; yes, most of the food is not very healthy; yes…yes…yes.  Keep perspective people.  I have to watch every bite of food that enters my body every day of the year, can I enjoy this one day, the one meal I look forward to every year, without being made to feel guilty?

I have a solution:  get off your butt at some point in the day and take a walk, or maybe even toss the football around and leave the pumpkin pie to one slice…as in an 8th of the pie, not half.  Hey, maybe even get up early and do some aerobics the following day by racing with the crowds at the mall.

You have my permission to enjoy, be thankful and not feel guilty!  Now pass that pecan pie with whipped topping and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
