Your baby is growing – the final weeks

Ok, now the end is in sight. It may seem a far way off – but it’s there, really, it’s coming.

If you want to see what your baby looks like in the earlier stages of pregnancy, here are the earlier installments: Your baby is growing – the first 2 months, Your baby is growing – the third month, Your baby is growing – months 4 and 5 and Your baby is growing – finishing the second trimester.

What does your baby look like now?

Look at that image to the left – at 32 weeks, the baby is starting to look pretty cramped! You should really be feeling movement now and you may be feeling a lot of hiccups as the baby practices breathing. If your baby is a boy, the testicles are making their way to their permanent location in the scrotum.

At 32 weeks, the downy hair that was covering the baby’s skin is falling off.

Now, we’re looking at the finish line. At 34 to 36 weeks gestation, babies have a good rate of surviving well if they are born early.

Now, your baby should be about 6 pounds or so and the baby can make sucking motions.

Over the last few weeks, the baby’s organs will finish preparing for birth and he or she will continue to gain weight.

So, what’s next?

Don’t forget the Prevent drownings (plus a DVD give-away). The give-away ends June 15 at 11:59 PM.

  1. Thanks for this info! It has great illustrations! I am in nearing my 20th week with baby #5! This will hopefully be my 4th natural labor. I had one epidural and regret having had it. Well I really enjoy your blog! Have a wonderful weekend!
