January 6, 2009 by Peggy Rowland

To help welcome you to The Kitty Blog, I’d like for you to try out one of my cat Choco’s favorite foods: Pet Promise. He seems to prefer the taste to the other foods he’s tried so far. Sometimes I think Choco likes it too much though!

Four readers who enter will be randomly selected to win a Pet Promise gift bag including cat food samples, a bandanna and a coupon to receive a free full-size bag of dry cat food (up to 25 lbs. – a $49 value).

Pet Promise has a “Promise of Purity” that means no animal byproducts, no added growth hormones, no antibiotic-fed protein, no rendered meats AND no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. And it’s not just good for kitty, Pet Promise also refuses to use factory-farm meat or poultry. They support rural farms, helping out struggling US farmers and ranchers.

Enter to win:

Leave a comment on this post before end of day on January 29, 2009. In your comment, please introduce everyone to your kitty by telling us something about him or her. Dinah is the name of our furry house mate. She was named after the cat in Alice in Wonderland. She has long white fur with some grey turtle print on her ears, a brown nose, green eyes and a raccoon’s tail!!! She is 4 years old and enjoys eating, purring very loudly and hiding under the bed to catch her favorite prey- human feet-as they walk by. She also is fascinated with the flushing of the toilet and runs in to have a look every chance she gets— DISCUSTING! I told her not to-but she doesn’t listen. Her aliases include “Flea Sharps” and “Smeegle Puff” .

Ms. Punkin was given her name because at 6 weeks she was just a big round orange head and my son couldn’t say Pumpkin. Now she’s 15 years old and a little old lady.

I have 2 cats, Miss Dusty who is always with me. She even cuddles under the covers with me pushing my husband away. :) the other cat is Lucifer, named after the cat in cinderella. he was named by my grandchildren. Hubby and I call him Luce, or Louie. well that is until he does something bad, then we call him by his full name. He is a character. he likes to wrap himself around your neck like a fur collar. He loves everyone, but he is very much hubby’s boy. thank you for this chance to share about my babies.

Slater, Anakin and Scrump all deserve this. I run a foster home for disabled adults and these kitties act like therapy cats. The cats have “adopted” all of these special people and make their days much happier!

  5. Jenny C. says:

I only have 1 cat right now since the neighbor decided to abduct him. :( Anyways, Yasmine is my little princess… she was abandoned before she was supposed to be winged off her mother. So, she would end up sucking the pads on the bottom of her feet to get ” feeling ” of being close to her mom again. We fed her from a bottle until she was able to eat kitty food. I’m sure she would really appreciate this.

    Thank you! =)

  6. Sharon Davis says:

We don’t have a cat, but, at 87 years old my father in law suddenly adopted a cat. Believe me they both needed to be adopted. Tom, the old tom cat, was “dropped off” in front of f-i-l’s house.F-I-L refused so loud and long that I was pretty sure the he was going to adopt him. That cat is almost 99% sure that he died and has gone to heaven. Tom even wakes my father in law up around 4am for emergency “scritching of the ears and jaw”, father in law complains about most everything, but, this cat can be scritched at 4am and is is A-ok. This sure makes us happy, a cat and visa-versa can bring love back into a life as sure as you can kiss a duck. Father in law even buys him premium cat food “because at his age he needs the best for his digestion”. Winning this contest would be super because while Tom needs the best his “father” is on a fixed income.

  7. Phillip Cosgrove says:

My cats are fixed but it doesn’t seem to keep them out of the game.

  8. LKnott says:

I have one cat inside and one outside and one neighborhood daily visitor. Fluke my indoor kitty is about 12 years old and struggling with my daughter going back to college. She sits and cries at her door. Would love to try this product!

  9. Lisa Davis says:

My cat was a stray for about 4 years. Now he acts like he was always an indoor caat.

  10. Susanne Troop says:

We had to put our cat of 14 years to sleep about a year and a half ago and decided last month that we were ready to get another cat. We ended up with two brothers who have put huge smiles on our faces again! What a joy that are!

  11. Theresa says:

I have 4 cats, Roley, Rascal, Scrunchie and Zippy. We started feeding the older boys baby food because its better for them, now thats all they want! Spoiled yes.

  12. Lisa says:

My cats Lole and Minx love Pet Promise! We go through a bag of cat food way too quick.

  13. Rachel Newman says:

I call her, “The Menace,” because her favorite game is to propel herself off my back and leap high into the air. She’s really something. :)

I have 3 cats. They all some quirks, like midnight likes cotton candy. Never had a cat with that kind of craving.

  15. I have 3 cats. Miracle is a manic depressive diva like me. Zena Brat stop growong at 10 months old & is very petit & affraid of the dark.
Zoe was born with a tail that was bent on the tip & then bent again about2 inches down s..so it makes a curly q at the end & she also laughs…..just check out my blog for a pic of her laughing.

  16. Mark Winger says:

stash and toby are my boys. stash is the young cat and toby is the older wiser one :-)

  17. kathy yohanna says:

I have two cats, Ozzie and D’Metri. They were both rescued. Ozzie is all black, has long silky fur and loves his chin scratched.

  18. Mary says:

Well, this is what I get for feeding strays who then become pregnant….and then you spend the money to have them spayed (and the male “babies” neutered) and figure after you are supposed to keep them inside for at least 3 days…”Oh well, we might as well keep them”…Soooo I now am the proud mama of over 10 cats so it’s hard to single any one of them out, but I must say the newest baby “twins” Kelly & Slater are to die for!!! Adorable!

    Thanks for the contest!

  19. Helen says:

My little one’s name is Max and he’s a red colored tabby that’s a rescue.
