It’s time to put your pets to work in your very own independent film showing how animals can help people feel better.

Connecticut’s nonprofit psychotherapy and educational organization, Soul Friends, Inc, is hosting their first pet-themed film festival on Saturday, November 21 at Showcase Cinemas in North Haven from 10 am to noon.

Soul Friends helps at-risk children with therapy animals and other interactive activities. Their services include dog training for special needs children, equine assisted psychotherapy and crisis response therapy dogs.

To enter the Petflix Film Festival, submit a video under 5 minutes or within the 5-10 minute category. Film shorts will be judged on originality, cinematography, message and overall theme. You may submit more than one entry.

Three finalists from each category will be screened during the film festival. Entry fees are $15, and event tickets are $5 in advance or $8 at the door. Visit soul-friends.org for more information.
