Pink Ribbon Giveaway: Win 1 of 25 Boxes of Replens

On May 12 (geesh, time flies) I gave you all A Menopause Primer and promised you I’d have some resources for the women reading this blog battling menopausal symptoms as a result of your breast cancer treatment.
First, let’s review the symptoms of menopause, whether natural, chemical or induced:
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Vaginal discharge or spotting
- Vaginal dryness
- Diminished sex drive and/or pain during intercourse
- Urinary incontinence, UTIs or burning on urination
- Insomnia
- Mood swings (irritability, depression, anxiety)
- Breast changes (shape, texture)
As I typed those I started to feel sorry for us all over again. In particular, those of us dealing with vaginal dryness.
Although I was told I’d experience vaginal dryness when I went through menopause, nobody told me what it would feel like.
Nobody told me that my vagina would literally feel so dry it would ache … sometimes hurt.
I used to have a slight sensation of dryness on the last day of my period, as the estrogen level in my body dropped I suppose, and inserting/removing a tampon became terribly uncomfortable. Well, vaginal dryness is that same feeling … magnified.
Vaginal dryness can cause discomfort, itching, burning, soreness, even chronic pain.

From chemo and the hysterectomy, I was put in menopause at 30. This does work. It has a few issues but out of everything I have tried this is the best. (The KY vaginal dryness relief had the worst applicator.) The replens just went up in price again around here.
My wife could use this, which means I could use it too!

Nikki, I personally haven’t tried ALL the other stuff on the market — I have tried Replens though.

I am an almost 60 yr. old, never had children, had breast cancer w/bilateral mastectomies, have gone through menopause, and now have severe vaginal atrophy. I’m also an animal advocate and, though I shouldn’t use Premarin anyway because of the breast cancer, I won’t use it due to the inhumane treatement of the pregnant mares where they get the stuff. Anyway, I have used Replens several times for the burning that feels like a UTI. Most times it works, sometimes not. I would still like to enter the contest and will definitely keep using the product. Thanks! Karen in Texas
I have used Replens and love it. Unfortunately it does get expensive. Almost wish it required a prescription as it would be more affordable to me. Good luck everyone. If you haven’t tried Replens hope you get the opportunity. It’s offered me great relief from post menopasual dryness
