Planning for a new year

Happy new year!
If you’re like most people, you’ve come up with at least a few goals/resolutions for 2009. Maybe they are small–save $1 a day and have $300+ to spend for Christmas next year! Maybe they are huge–get married on a remote island in a wedding dress that costs more than a new car.
Traditionally, I focus on my FEARS when determining resolutions. I pick at least one fear to overcome and work on it for 365 days. It’s a good way for me to systematically “better” myself and I’ve really been able to do more than I thought I could by naming what scares me most and tackling it little by little over the course of a year.
As I began to think about the fears I’d like to overcome over the next twelve months, I was shocked to realize that–for the first time in a long time–the fear of gaining weight was not longer at the top of the list.
Seriously. I actually have fears that are much more intense than having the numbers move on the scale.
Is this a breakthrough? Or is it panic-worthy? I mean, if the “fear” I’ve clung to for two decades is no longer “THE” fear of my life, does it mean I’ve progressed or regressed?
