The sad thing is that it is a realistic concern for some kids today. And you're right - it should have been done with a much more serious tone. I mean, even the cover of the book ticks me off. AND THE TITLE!!! "My Beautiful Mommy"?!?!?! I'd like to tell the author of the book that he'd do much better explaining to the kids that their mommies - and their mommies' extra pounds - are beautiful because they carried them for nine months - NOT because they've undergone surgery.
