Poke a Butt Game – This Time It’s For Real

I have to admit, this has been one of my favorite phrases ever since I found it in my stats page last week. It rolls off the tongue so nicely. Poke a butt. It’s funny and a little naughty yet not obscene. Say it out loud with me: Poke a butt. See? You can’t help but smile. (pardon the pun). I say it; I giggle. That’s how it works.
That’s how it worked until tonight – when my husband actually had to play the poke a butt game. With me as the (un)willing recipient.
This evening was my first injection of progesterone in oil (affectionately known as PIO) and have I been sweating it. Boy, have I been sweating it. You’d think after experience with chemo and scans and all kinds of procedures that required needles, I would be ok with them by now.
Guess again. My fear is real and it is deep.
About as deep as the needle plunged into my butt just a few minutes ago.
But I am so happy to report that the tips I procured from Nearly Dawn oh so long ago worked wonders, and hubby, sweet hubby, is just about the best shot-giver I’ve ever known.
One down; ??? to go.
