Former Senator Dean Barkley confirmed that he had posted a profile on the online dating site Match.com.
The profile, which was linked to by Minnesota Democrats Exposed, indicated Barkley was interested in dating after getting divorced last year. The site’s owner, former GOP district chair Michael Brodkorb, posted Barkley’s list of what he hoped a potential date would like, which included “Boldness / Assertiveness,” “Brainiacs, “Candlelight” and “Erotica,” among other things.
While the profile could prove somewhat embarrassing for Barkley, whether it would have any serious affect on a potential run for Congress in the 6th District remained to be seen.
Match.com has more than 42 million current or former users and is the world’s largest online dating site. Barkley is far from the only notable person to be listed on the site. Indeed, actress Kara Brock met her husband, author Joseph Bustos, through the site.
Personally, I don’t find it a big deal that a politician is posting an ad on a dating site. I think it’s a grand way for someone with such a busy life to meet someone capatable.
What do you think? Should people who live so centered in the public eye consider online dating at all?

Why not? It’s probably his only way to really stay somewhat “anonymous,” or without people knowing right away who he is. If he met someone in the grocery store they’d probably know right away who he is. I don’t think it’s such a big deal that he was trying to meet someone online, especially in this day and age, where it’s becoming more and more common.
I wasn’t the type to places an ad in the paper, yet I met my husband online when I least expected it!
