Poll: Did your baby use a pacifier?

February 21, 2008 by Grace Ibay

It used to be that using pacifiers for infants were discouraged because it increases the risk of ear infections and could delay speech. Now, the wind is starting to shift again and using pacifiers is now recommended because it prevents sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Between your teenage child and the last of the brood, it can become a confusing pendulum – PACIFIERS: TO USE or NOT TO USE.

Did you find it useful? Why or Why not?

What benefits did you or your child get from using a pacifier?

What problems came up?

  1. Each of my three children used a pacifier. They are now in their teens and appear to be normal. They never have any issue with delayed speech. As a matter of fact I would like them to talk a bit less on my office phone.
