PomegranatesJust a few months ago, I wrote an entry on the cancer-preventive properties of pomegranate juice, specifically against lung and prostate cancer. Here’s yet another study supporting claims that pomegranate juice can help fight lung cancer.

Mice who were exposed to cancer-inducing chemicals and who were treated with pomegranate had significantly lower lung tumor growth than mice treated with carcinogens only. Tumor reduction was 53.9 percent at 84 days and 61.6 percent at 140 days.

Pomegranate’s cancer-fighting capabilities is believed to be due to its high antioxidant content, which have an anti-inflammatory effect. Should you want further reading, the results of this study has been published in the April 1 issue of Cancer Research.
