Pop Pop Redux

On the edge of your seat watching the election results? Need a little distraction of a sensory type to keep your fingers busy with something else besides hitting the refresh button on your computer to see who’s in the lead? Bubble wrap is good stuff for the sensory-sensitive and then there’s the Mugen Pop Pop Blueberry, a miniature version of those plastic popping sheets. But can it replicate the real bubble wrap experience? And would the Mugen be a good fidget to clip onto Charlie’s bookbag?

Excuse me, I have to go back to checking who’s got the most electoral votes……..

Ha! I’m managing not to check the election results. Really. I am. Though it’s using just about every distraction technique I’ve ever known…

    Cliff

  2. I am being spectacularly unsuccessful at not checking…………

  3. Regan says:

Even if I didn’t want to, my husband is mesmerized so I’ve given up and we have the TV and the radio on, as well as the internet.

Whatever the result–there has been a super demonstration of campaign involvement by supporters of both parties and a magnificent turnout by the voters! What a great election day.

  4. My students were abuzz about the election and one was late specifically because she was in a long line to vote.

  5. Cliff says:

I think I must be the only person who really isn’t psyched about it. Perhaps it’s because I’m a perpetual pessimist, or perhaps it’s because I voted a full week ago. At this point, I’m just thinking “ok, let it be over, and I hope Mom wins”, and really staying out of it. My blood pressure is going to be high enough as is…

    Cliff

  6. So let us know what happens in her election…….

  7. I think the one here (as in “here all across the US”) is over.

  8. Cliff says:

Yeah… I could tell by cheering people. Yes, there are cheering people. Running around outside, like maniacs. And we didn’t even have to haul out lawyers…

In Mom’s, only one rural county has reported on that race, so we’ll see on mine.

    Cliff

  9. Regan says:

    Don’t lose sleep Cliff :-/.
Good luck on your mom’s election bid!

I think it is great that people are taking so much interest in the election and political process–esp. the younger voters; that is at least as exciting to me as the outcome.

It looks like it’s over–but we still have the state and local races/measures and I never breath completely easy until the count is completely in.

    Good night :-) .

  10. Kathy says:

    America has a new President.
    Congratulations President Barrack Obama.
May this momentous ocassion herald a new and positive era for America, and for all the world.

  11. Kathy says:

Sorry for jumping in so quick, Regan, but as I am working here on my computer, I am also listening to John McCain’s concession speech. It is a gracious and generous speech, in which he pays tribute to Barrack Obama.
    Sleep easy, now.

  12. I believe we will need it! Now the real work begins.

  13. M says:

    it’s such a relief;

it just feels like we’ve entered a new place, where there are new rules, new possibilities.

it’s actually sort of hard to believe. i’ll have to drink extra strong coffee in the morning just to wake myself up to the fact that it happened.

now we can think long term. barak is president for (hopefully) 8 years. after that…dr. chew?

i’m trying to start the momentum. woo for dr. chew!

  14. Storkdok says:

Since there was no school yesterday, I played with the kids and didn’t look at the TV or computer until this morning! I just wanted it to be over!

Yes, now the real work begins!

Cliff, how did your mother’s election turn out?

  15. Lisa/Jedi says:

I burst into tears this morning when my husband brought the paper home with the wonderful headlines… he was astounded that we hadn’t even put the radio on to hear the news :) but Brendan & I were deeply into a discussion of classic rock & roll & completely forgot about the election- thus do the nearly-teen years begin to unfold…

As for the mugen-pucchi-pucchi (in japanese it’s literally “endless pop-pop”)- neither Brendan nor I leave home without them. He keeps his in his pocket & quietly uses it as needed during the day with his teachers’ blessing. I pull mine out at red lights when the traffic is too hairy :) Brendan’s makes cute noises every so often, mine speaks to me in japanese :) :)

  16. Hmmmm——-now that’s a recommendation!

Charlie was sound asleep when it was all happening—-Jim went to the gym to watch everything on TV!

  17. @M, moi, yikes! just trying to hang onto things at my job here!

  18. Cliff says:

A close loss, unfortunately. Such things happen; still thinking about it, though.

    Cliff

  19. This comment does not follow most of the comment thread but the original topic of the post — here’s the Puchi Puchi electronic bubble wrap; think I’ve found a good stocking stuffer for Charlie.
