Positively Friday and a Holiday Weekend

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your week was a good one. It has definitely been a busy week for this Weary Parent.

Monday we spent the day recovering from a very long but successful weekend at the state gymnastics championships for the level I coach. My girls did amazing and it was so much fun to see them get rewarded for all their hard work.

Tuesday was my youngest daughter’s acting debut. She had three speaking parts in the Kindergarten musical and she truly seemed to enjoy it. It was funny watching her do every hand motion and such with amazing confidence and DRAMA. I felt bad for the little boy next to her – she was convinced that he was in her dramatic space and I thought she was going to knock him off the risers. Add to that HockeyBoy had to be at practice on the other side of town at the same time as little sister’s big night, made for some serious running back and forth by this mama.

Wednesday my youngest (the drama queen fish) had a swim lesson. She is thrilled that swim team starts next week and hopes to make some new friends in the process. HockeyBoy took his first Standards of Learning exam for the year and said it was so easy. That evening, we watched National Treasure 2 – Book of Secrets  as a family and everyone loved it.

Thursday night is gymnastics night for my middle daughter – Miss M – and for me. Little sister takes an art class for a bit while we are there and HockeyBoy decided to stay home and enjoy sister-free TV time and cleaning his room.

Tonight is Friday and there is nothing on the schedule for anyone! I think we will all kick back, relax and enjoy doing nothing.

Got any big plans for the holiday weekend? We are going to my sister-in-law’s for a picnic and rather than bring any food (they already have plenty), I got put in charge of kids entertainment. I found some great ideas at Target this morning. I picked up a Star Pinata, some frisbees, hula hoops, and a few other yard games. If it is warm enough, we may even pull out my list of 4 great water games for kids of all ages.
