Ready.gov urges you to be prepared for emergencies. And that includes preparing for your pet’s needs as well.

Ready is a national public service campaign that aims to educate and empower Americans when it comes to preparing for and responding to emergencies, such as natural disasters or terrorist attacks.

At Ready.gov, you can download a Pets Preparedness Toolkit, as well as watch instructional videos and research further to help plan for potential emergencies.

One item that Ready suggests including in your Emergency Supply Kit is a picture of you and your pet together. This documents your ownership and assists in rescue efforts.

Ready also recommends that you develop a Buddy System with your neighbors or friends. Such a system can be life-saving for your pet if you’re unable to provide assistance.

Visit Ready for much more information to help you with emergency planning.

Does your emergency plan include details for your pets?
