Finding extra help when you need it most can mean the world. If you suffer from ulcerative colitis (like nearly 700,000 Americans), some help may be on the way.
If you’re taking Lialda or Pentasa for ulcerative colitis (UC) and become unemployed in 2009, Shire may be able to provide the drugs to you at no cost until the end of the year. The company has also raised the household income levels necessary to qualify for no cost and shared cost assistance for the drugs.

Shire is a global specialty biopharmaceutical company that recently launched an enhanced Shire CARES Patient Assistance Program (PAP) for uninsured or unemployed Americans.
Assistance may be provided for newly diagnosed patients, as well as those already taking Lialda or Pentasa. The Shire CARES PAP has a simple enrollment process with free delivery of medicines for enrolled patients to their home or doctor’s office for up to one year. Some patients could be re-enrolled if they continue to qualify for the Shire CARES PAP.
