Right now, we have a cream called EMLA, which can be given before injections are given to help ease the pain, particularly in children. According to this news release, EUSA Launches Novel Anaesthetic Plaster In UK – Rapydan(R) – Now Available For The Relief Of Pain Associated With Injections, this new plaster may be better than using EMLA cream.

The plaster combines two anesthetics and claims to work twice as fast as does EMLA.
