Pretty Jewelry Using Self-Covered Buttons

Self-covered buttons are such handy little notions to have in your sewing box.

Can’t match buttons to a project?

Make covered ones using the same fabric.

Need to make a garment a little more sophisticated?

That’s right, covered buttons are the way to go.

I was working on an article this morning for my accessory blog, when these earrings from Rimistyle caught my eye:

Those sure look like covered buttons to me!  It would be so simple to create a pair for yourself.  Just make buttons using fabric you like.  Check out your local craft store for jewelry findings and glue the buttons on.  I personally prefer E6000 for projects like this.

Presto!  Custom-made earrings (make them to match your outfit!) for a fraction of the price of store-bought.

One last tip – I like to glue the back of the button on as well, I find it just makes the finished button that much more sturdy.

    Hello there -

Love your blog – it’s always full of GREAT stuff!

Haven’t been able to find the 2 tutorials for the chunky fabric necklaces – I get taken to “Q” page with nothing on it. I’ve also tried Blisstree’s “search” – takes me to the same page. Can you help?

    Thanks so much!

    Deborah
