Here’s another great photo from another regular contributor, Dinh Cuong Vu of some lovely young Vietnamese women wearing the traditional national costume dress, the ao dai (pronounced ow yai).

The dress has gone through several modifications, including influential redesigns by Paris fashion designers during the 1950s.  However, this type of attire is not as popular as it once was before 1980.

Men also have a traditional outfit, the áo gấm, which is usually only worn by older men for weddings, or during major holidays, such as Tet.
