I mentioned last week some time that I had discovered a product that I just love. It’s from the Family Matters line (exclusively at Office Depot), like the appointment book and storage case I reviewed last week. All of the products from the line work together with a color coordinated system.

This calendar helps me stay extremely organized and I am really enjoying it. It has a gigantic magnet on the back, so I was able to put it on the refrigerator where everyone has access to it. I have always kept a calendar in the kitchen, but not one like this. This one has a few extra features that make it really work for me.

Here are the features of this calendar and how I use them:

Paper Calendar:

The calendar is nice and big and has plenty of room to write down our monthly activities. On the right hand side, it has the color coordinated squares that correspond with the members of your family. You can write family member specific notes on those squares. For example, my son is blue. On the blue square for the month I can write “make dentist appt.” That reminds me that I need to call and schedule and appt. for him.

The calendar is wired bound and hooks into the main unit. I record every activity for the month here and my kids/husband know to do the same.

Dry erase board:

On the right hand side, there is a dry erase board marked with the days of the week. There are several different ways you could use this area. I use it for menu planning. Now I have my calendar and my menu plan in the same spot.

You could also use this area for weekly notes and reminders.

Behind the calendar storage and activity folders:

Rest of the review is below the cut.

This is probably my favorite feature that no other calendar I have used before has. As you can see in the picture above, a blue folder is peeking out from behind the calendar and you can also see the tabs from the other folders.

This infocenter comes with five activity folders that store right behind the calendar. The colors coordinate with the calendar, appointment book and all of the other products in the Family Matters line. Each member in my family has their own folder.

This is where I keep important papers that I need to use later. For example, my kids were all sent home with a list of all the students names in their class for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t need these pieces of paper when they came home from school, but I also didn’t want to lose them. So, I put each list in their folder. When it was time to do Valentine’s Day cards, I grabbed their list and we filled out their cards. When we were done, we threw the papers away.

I am really loving these activity folders and they are helping me keep track of papers I don’t want to lose. Although it did take me a week to get used to using them. I was ripping my house apart looking for directions to my son’s gymnastics meet. They were in his activity folder. :D

A couple of other features:

  • Color coordinated squares on the bottom for taking notes.
  • Holder on the side for dry erase marker and pen/pencil.

If you are needing an all in one calendar to help keep track of your busy family’s schedule, I highly recommend the Family Matters InfoCenter. I love it!

I bought a dayrunner organizer board a few years ago, but after about 2 years I can’t get refills for it ANYWHERE! Including dayrunner.com! They are always out of stock and stores here don’t carry their products anymore. Don’t buy this — it works great now, but you won’t be able to work with it in a year when there is no refill for it!
