Promoting Art Work With Postcards

Artists, authors and craftspeople often utilize postcards of their work for promotion. When you send a letter or note in an envelope, only you and that person usually will see the item. When you send a postcard, multiple people will glimpse it, and perhaps notice your work, as it makes it’s way from you to the recipient.

This is easier nowadays with the use of scanning and printing programs, whereby you can create postcards individually, as needed, instead of getting several hundred printed at one time.
You can utilize places like Café Press for printing cards on demand and paying only for those you order. Also, you can send individuals to Café Press to order their own.
Use postcards:
- For writing notes. They’re cost less to send through the mail and put your work in front of more people.
- Serve as handouts at shows and signings. They’re another form of business card, if you include your pertinent information.
- Include as giveaways when you sell a book or art item. Stick it in the bag or shipping package.
- This also helps boost your confidence…to get your work out where others will see it.
Whenever you need to use stationery or notecards, use something that has your artwork on it.
How have you used postcards to promote your art?
