Property Tax Exclusion for Solar Power Systems in California

solar tax incentive

One might think that having a solar power system in your house may increase your property’s assessed value and therefore increase the real property tax you pay to the government.   The good news is that,  while adding solar powersystems such as solar panels and solar water heating increases the “market value” of your property,  the “assessed value” of your property in which property tax is based upon, will not increase.

I’m no tax lawyer but from a layman’s understanding,  this definitely is a huge benefit for people who are considering shifting to solar energy.  Check it out and read it for yourself here.

You might want to print this out and and give it to your local county assessor for reference.
