Pumpkin Seeds are Good for Ya!

When you are scooping the goop out of a pumpkin this year save the seeds, if you don’t all ready.

Why?

Because they are healthy and delicious, that’s why.

Pumpkin seeds contain large amounts of zinc which is good for guarding against upper respiratory infections, colds, and flu. There are omega-3s, magnesium, manganese, iron, tryptophan, and other important nutrients in them.

Pumpkin seeds are great for men’s health.  They help guard against prostate problems and when they are eaten on a regular basis (or the oil taken by capsules) they can heighten sexual pleasure immensely.

They  help with the inflammation of arthritis, lower cholesterol, and help maintain bone density (in men especially).

See? They are awesome!

They aren’t hard to prepare yourself, or you can get them at the health food store all ready shelled.

Remove any pulp clinging to the shells.

Spread them out evenly on a absorbent material and let them dry  overnight.

Roast in a single layer on a cookie sheet at 170F for 20 minutes.  Shell and eat.

Pumpkin seeds are good in muffins, granola, quick breads, salads, and even cookies.  I like to add pumpkin, flax, sunflower, and sesame seed to whole grain yeast bread as well.

Consider adding this nutritional powerhouse to your diet this winter. :)
