Question of the Month: What keeps you motivated as a designer?

I am constantly surrounded by beautiful images of other people’s work, and that is one of the things that keeps me going personally. There’s always something new to try, isn’t there? Looking through long-unopened boxes of beads, sifting through collected treasures…that’s another designer turn on. But one of the things that motivates me the most is getting away from it from time to time. Refilling the well, so to speak.
So what about you? What keeps you motivated? Do you have specific goals that give you purpose? Does your soul cry out to try “just one more thing”? Is nature your muse?
Come on, tell us! We want to know

Lately, I have been motivated and inspired by the need to make art quilts with encouraging sayings for people who are battling one ailment or another. I hate that my friends are sick, but I love that I can make them something to take their minds off their troubles, if only for a moment. I feel like I am doing something to help and they have something handmade that says someone cares and is thinking of them in their time of need.
That is so lovely, Betsy! There is *nothing* like getting my eyes off myself and onto someone else’s needs as a motivator
