Question of the month: What’s your favorite Christmas cookie?

Or Solstice cookie, or Hanukkah cookie, or Kwanzaa cookie…I don’t really care which holiday they’re for, I just want to know your favorite! This is the cookie time of year, and I love finding new treats to serve my family and friends. I’m pretty much an equal-opportunity baker: in other words, if someone’s going to celebrate it, I want in!

Shortbread has always been one of my favorites, even if it isn’t the chocolate variety (which I also make, thankyouverymuch!). But my current obsession is with the Lemon & Lavender shortbread bars shown above. Even though I can’t pick fresh lavender to use at this time of the year in New England, the culinary flowers work well too. Here’s my post on this treat: Lemon & Lavender Shortbread

Another of our family faves is anything chocolate, and I really have a hankering to make Martha Stewart’s chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies. My version is posted at the link.

My friend Linette posted about making Cookie Pops that are assembled into a really cute “bouquet.” While you’re there, you’ll see the link to her amazing post on 50 cookie recipes that she’s collected, just in case you don’t have enough ideas of your own!!

So, what’s your favorite cookie for this time of the year? You can either post the name and link (if you’ve got it online already) in the comments, or send me your answer with “Cookie recipe” in the subject line, and I’ll post it with your credit and link :-) Email cyndi @ b5Media.com (remove the spaces).

  1. Jean says:

My favorite Christmas cookie is a simple spritz cookie but dyed green, piped into a wreath shape with silver and gold dragee ornaments and a “big” red bow cut from a candied cherry. I love to look at them as much as eat them!

  2. Double Ginger-Snap cookies. Added bonus? Ginger helps with tummy troubles associated with viruses, handy during the cold and flu season.

Jean, when I was a kid, there was nothing I liked better than any cookie made with a press or piped out of a bag!

Double ginger snaps?? Wow, thanks for the link Jenna!
