My current favorite tool is my Nesco 18qt Roaster Oven. I bought it last November when it was on sale at the local hardware store. It has a cooking well so I can use it to make soup, a rack so that I can bake casseroles or do a roast inside it and I have the additional pans to turn it into a casual buffet server.

I've used it to make homemade turkey soup (the cookwell was the only "pot" I had that was big enough for the turkey carcass). I put it outside on my porch all summer to cook numerous casseroles and not heat up my kitchen. I've used it several times as a buffet server for informal gatherings in my home. I've also roasted three chickens at one time and then used the birds in various OAMC ways. What a time saver that was!

I don't know what I did before I bought this $40 widget, but I'm sure glad to have it now. Anyway, it is my favorite kitchen gadget of this year.
