Quick Christmas Gift – Tea Cup Pincushion

I don’t know quite how it happened, but I somehow have acquired about 30 mismatched teacups. So, I’ve been coming up with ways to use them. The other day, I tried a tea cup pincushion for my own use. I think it could also make a nice, quick Christmas gift for someone who likes crafts.
I put a bit of sawdust and some stuffing in a cup and tucked fabric in around it. Then, I pushed the fabric aside just enough to dribble some hot glue in between it and the cup and let it slide back into place.
If I did it again, I’d make smaller folds in the fabric so the tucks aren’t so obvious and I think I’d put some trim around the edge where the fabric and the cup meet.
For people who have a cup and saucer, using a glue that bonds porcelain to glue them permanently together may be a nice touch. The saucer will make a useful holder for a thimble and small spool of thread.

Wow – crafty. I’m not a sewer, but this is a pretty cool homemade gift idea. There are so many cool tea cups out there too. Clever girl.
Thanks, Jennifer. I have a whole stack of teacups, so I’m always trying to come up with new craft ideas for them.
