Now is a good time to get down to business when it comes to decluttering, simplifying, and clearing out your house. Plenty of the items you own, but no longer need or use can be donated. If you donate before December 31st 2008, you can claim these deductions on your taxes. Wait to long to organize and you’ll have to wait until next year.

So hop to it. Need help? Read:

Great advice! Another thing to keep in mind is that Christmas is coming and that usually means more stuff coming into your home.

Use this as a learning opportunity for your kids as well as a method to keep your home clutter free. Help your children pick out a few toys that they no longer play with that can be donated to charity. Pack them up and donate them together.

Explain to your children that when they donate their unused or unwanted items, it helps under-privileged children have things they would not otherwise be able to have. It helps your children learn to be charitable, it will make them less likely to have a problem with clutter when they become adults, and it helps keep your home clutter-free.
