Quilted and appliqued Christmas ornaments add color and interest to your tree and your home during the holiday season. You may want to make these yourself or find them at craft and Christmas shops.
Cathy, at the Tangled Thread blog (www.tangledthread.com) features a number of Christmas ornaments you may want to make. These include: a Yo-Yo Christmas Tree Stocking, Crazy Quilt Stocking, Christmas Countdown Calendar, and a Counted Cross Stitch Tree Skirt. Simply browse down her blog for more information and where to find patterns and directions.
Creating Christmas and holiday ornaments and decorations with your youngsters can be a fun time. My daughter and I have memories of those we made when she was young. I also used these as projects with my 4-H Club members. These items also are nice to give as gifts.

I love yo-yo circles, Mary Emma…… it’s one of my favorite textile techniques. I learned how to make yo-yo circles when I was a little girl, from one of my grandmother’s best friends. I taught my daughter when she was a child, and she’s hooked on yo-yo’s, too…. the yo-yo chain lives on!
Yo-yo’s are a favorite of mine, too, Noreen. I made them with my daughter and her friends when they were young. In fact, I have a bag of little yo-yo’s I should do something with now. They’re sitting in my closet, made years ago, waiting for a project.
Yes, aren’t yo-yo’s fun to make and work with? Thanks for sharing, Noreen. I used to make yo-yo’s with my daughter and her friends when they were young and I had a 4-H group. They make such interesting Christmas decorations. My daughter also designed a pillow using yo-yo’s that I sold when I had a quilting mail order business.
