Quilting Forms a Bond

As I browsed through a book of quilting quotes and information, I came across the idea that quilting forms a bond between people who many not have much or anything else in common.

I thought, How true! 

Then I remembered the ladies who stopped by our yard sale and purchased fabric, notions, and patterns.  We began chatting over our common interest in quilting.

I thought of the flight attendants and people I meet at airports as I stitch on the fabric postcards while we travel.  They notice what I’m doing, ask about it, then mention they do quilting or some form of needlework.  Our discussion continues from there; we often exchange names and e-mail addresses before we leave and keep in contact afterward.

The women who belong to the small fabric art group my daughter joined are of different ages, backgrounds, and careers.  Yet they’ve formed fast friendships because of this common bond of quilting and related fabric arts.

What about the groups you belong to, whether meeting online or in person?  Don’t you find a diverse mix of quilters, whether male or female, who have a common interest in this art?
