Quilting Query: Memory Pillows & Throws from Neckties

After writing Memory Quilts with Neckties, I received inquiries from Barbara and Patty with questions about making pillows and throws from neckties. I’ll post their queries below and hope some of you have some suggestions, even patterns.
Barbara asked:
I am interested in finding someone who could make 3 memory pillows out of neckties from my deceased husband. I have 2 teenaged sons and each of us would like a memory pillow.
Patty’s question:
I am looking for a person who would be interested in making a throw from neckties. My husband is retiring and I would like to have all his ties made into a quilt/throw.
Also, there may be other quilters who would like to make these items for themselves from neckties as a way of preserving memories. So if you’ll share with us your experiences with necktie quilts, pillows, throws, etc., it would be appreciated.

I regularly add my husband’s old ties into my mixed paper and fabric quilts…it’s so much fun to revisit them long after their expiration date!
Oh my. I know someone who does this type of thing. She showed me photos of some gorgeous pillows she made from a vintage wedding dress.

In regards to Barbara’s question about necktie pillows. I do more of a collage effect with wedding dresses and I know ties would work very well and would be just as memorable. Email me if you want some ideas or I would be more than happy to do the pillows for you.

I have a bag of old neckties – outdated patterns and I don’t wear ties as much as I used to. I will send them to anyone who wants and will use them instead of ending up in the garbage. (willvp @ yahoo.com)
I know someone who makes memory pillows out of personal items. She made 14 pillows using her mothers old T-shirts so that all the grandchildren have a memory of her… email me if you are interested… greekcutie1211@aol.com… i can send you a picture of the pillows… they are incredible
