Rachael Ray States Throat Cancer Rumors Untrue

There have been rumors circulating that Rachael Ray is preparing to have throat cancer surgery, but People is reporting that news from her rep is that the rumors are not true:

“Rachael is the picture of health. She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord,” says Charlie Dougiello, a spokesman for Ray. “It’s a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely effect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings.”

Ray has said that she had serious bouts of the croup as a baby and has suffered from vocal issues her whole life.  She went to a specialist who has tried to help her out with vocal exercises and told her to lay off the caffeine.  By the looks of her schedule and her rather energetic character she might not be following the latter advice.

Her surgery will be taking place in December to remove a benign cyst and they don’t anticipate her being out for more than just about a week.  Read more at People.
