If there had been no DSM-IV, there would still have been a huge increase in diagnoses of autism in the 1990s. It can't be any other way given that the current information revolution started in the 1990s. Every study that uses an existing ASD diagnosis and covers a time span before and after 1994 has inherent population errors in the study.

I honestly believe DSM-IV has little to do with it. If there had been no DSM-IV, there would still have been a huge increase in diagnoses of autism in the 1990s. It can’t be any other way given that the current information revolution started in the 1990s.
