As someone with asthma, I cough a lot. Especially on a muggy day like today. It’s annoying, but at least I know what’s wrong with me. If you cough a lot, you should investigate why.

CNN Health recently listed eight possible reasons for a persistent cough. It should be noted that a persistent cough is one that has lasted for eight weeks or more. Some of these are obviously more serious than others.
- Asthma and allergies
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Respiratory tract infection
- Air pollution
- Acute bronchitis
- ACE inhibitors
- Pertussis
If you do have a lingering cough, schedule an appointment with your doctor to determine the cause.
