Recycle your old books

You can always donate old books to a library, school, or community non-profit. OR for those oddball books that were not quite a good read you can re-purpose them into something new. For example….

Make a recycled hardcover book purse:  Easier than you might think. All you need is an old book, a matching button, some ribbon, and basic tools, and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind purse. I wouldn’t make a red one (not a red fan) but overall I love the concept. It would have to be a book I hated though, or ripping out the pages would give me a heart attack.

Make a children’s clock – or really an adult clock as well. I love this idea for a kid’s gift.

Use as a flower press – you’ll need a semi-thick book and if you’re pressing thick flowers, you may need to rip out a few pages to allow room. After placing flowers inside, wrap your book with heavy string to hold it shut tight.

Turn a book into an iPod case – no joke and nine other creative book reuse ideas.

Make a custom lift-the-flap book for toddlers!

Make a bench – or get really creative and make larger furniture pieces.

Have you ever made anything out of old books?
