All the shouting and excitement Regis Philbin projects might have to be toned down for a little while. The 75-year-old host of Live with Regis and Kelly had triple heart bypass surgery on Wednesday and is said to be recovering well. This is how Regis announced it to his audience earlier this week:
Well listen, I gotta tell you something. I’ve been feeling chest pains, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about. I had a second opinion and they’re all in agreement that it should be the bypass. And so that’s what I’m going to do. So, you know, I’m going to do it this week, and come back when I’m ready.
Even walking home there’d be a shortness of breath, and I frankly knew something was wrong. …there’s some plaque in some arteries and I’ve got to get it cleaned out.
This is not the first time Regis has experienced heart problems. In 1993, he underwent an angioplasty and again in 2000. We can expect to see him back on air in about five weeks.
Get well soon, Regis!!!
