Rejuvenate Your Brain With Quotes By Mark Twain

I’m big on quotes. I love them. Actually, I probably thrive on them. Quotes from famous people, quotes from my family, quotes from random people I overhear talking while at the grocery store – quotes of all shapes, sizes, and origins.

I especially love quotes by Mark Twain.

I came to love Mr. Clemens a bit late in life (during my college years) but it’s been a strong love affair ever since.

Anyway, to the point: While stumbling around the other night, I ran across The Positivity Blog’s Mark Twain’s Top 9 Tips for Living a Kick-Ass Life. Henrik Edberg, the author of the post, takes nine quotes by Mark Twain and translates them into “tips.”

And isn’t that something we all do? Take meaning from our favorite quotes?

I think each and every one of these tips presents an excellent tool for pulling yourself out of a funk and refocusing on the important things in life. Think of them as mood boosters of a different sort.

I like all nine of the tips from Mark Twain quotes, but my four favorites are:

  1. Mark Twain Quote: “A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.” Tip: Approve of yourself.
  2. Mark Twain Quote: “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” Tip: Your limitations may just be in your mind.
  3. Mark Twain Quote: “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” Tip: Release yourself from entitlement.
  4. Mark Twain Quote: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Tip: Do what you want to do.

What’s your favorite Mark Twain quote? What tip does it translate into for you?
